Introducing you to a new series on the renovation of my home… Clifftop Casa. I’m taking inspiration from my Greek heritage and the modern Mediterranean style seen in the islands of the Cyclades. Having lived here for seven years I have now decided to undertake major works to transform the entire interior. The exterior will also eventually be refreshed, but this will have to be done further down the track.
I have already redone the front terrace a couple of years ago, as the windows and deck were in bad condition. The original windows were always this beautiful arch design, but the timber had rotted and unfortunately casement panes are not watertight. So they were replaced with aluminium which have fixed arches and awning style panels below. These allow so much more light through and have really opened up the space.
Composite decking was an easy decision as the thought of constant maintenance with the harsh weather was a definite no to hardwood flooring. I went with a sandy colour that almost looks like a limewash finish to give that coastal look. The timber railing also needed to be replaced so I designed a custom balustrade with arches to reflect the arched windows.
These are the first before and after pics of this project but I will share more when building gets underway. I may even try my hand at vlogging some of the progress (but no promises). I will definitely take better photos of the final results and I am so excited for the big reveal!
