ECO LIFE // mediterranean gardens
Living in a small space requires creative thinking and this also extends to the outdoors. After my trip to Greece last year, I was charmed by the simplicity of the rustic gardens and relaxing courtyards. Even in tiny laneways where there is no yard, there was still greenery with vines climbing walls and pot plants adorning stairs.
Whitewashed concrete is cleverly used to build planter boxes and curved bench seats. The serene colour palettes work everywhere with shades of blue and green. Combined with textures from natural materials like stone, terracotta, bamboo, timber and raffia. Most of the paths are crazy paving or stone cobblestones but the most interesting DIY is also very common. Plain concrete is meticulously painted with white shapes to mimic pavers and stones.
This whole style has me so inspired to recreate this laidback vibe in my Clifftop Casa renovation that I have been posting. Progress is being made with the interiors so the works outside will be a while off, but it’s been fun designing the exteriors in the meantime.
